Memory Palace

Practise the method of loci. Place items along a familiar route, then mentally revisit the stops to recall what you placed there.

How it works

The method of loci uses places as retrieval cues. Try a vivid association between an item and a location, then walk the route in order.

Read the in-game instructions before beginning. You can return home between exercises; there is no requirement to finish all four in one visit.

Understanding your result

Learning a memory strategy differs from increasing general intelligence. Try the technique with your own small list as a separate practice.

Practice effects in a game do not by themselves prove improvement in everyday memory or prevention of cognitive decline. If you are concerned about a change in memory, speak with a qualified health professional.
